Thursday, Sony on introduced its CLM-V55 5-inch video monitor that attaches to compatible DSLR cameras and HD camcorders. It provides users with a better view of what they’re recording and has an 800×480 resolution that promises a wide viewing angle, along with a swiveling and tilting arm. A pixel magnification mode helps users confirm focus thanks to an enlarged view of a selected part of the HD image.

The zoom mode is complemented by a color-peaking function to highlight the edges of accurately-focused areas. Users will have the ability to adjust aspect ratio between 16:9 and 4:3, along with volume, brightness, contrast, color tone, color temp and auto dimmer using the LCD. A mono speaker and headphone jack are built into the monitor as well.

The CLM-V55 will attach to Sony and third-party cameras with HD video shooting. A mounting adapter attaches to a camera’s auto-lock accessory shoe or ISO shoe. An HDMI cable is included and provides the signal connection, while power flows through a battery pack or the optional AC adapter. A detachable hood is included in the package.

The CLM-V55 LCD will ship in March for an unspecified price
