The upcoming Sony Alpha 99 (A99) may sport with a 102-point cross-point autofocus system, Sony Alpha Rumors learned from trusted sources. Prototypes of the Single-Lens Translucent (SLT) camera are reportedly equipped with the feature, which offers nearly twice as many autofocus points as some flagship DSLRs from competitors. The Nikon D800 has 51 points, for example, while Canon’s EOS 5D Mark III has 61. Sony’s own A77 camera has 19 cross points.

The A99’s other early, unconfirmed specs include a 24-megapixel, full-frame sensor and an ISO range of 100 to 25,600 that can be doubled through manual settings. It should also get an OLED viewfinder. While Sony is still selling the A850 and A900 cameras online, their product pages from Sony’s website are down. The SLT cameras feature unique translucent mirrors that don’t move, like in DSLRs, and speed up the autofocusing time.

Prices and release dates for the A99 aren’t yet known.
