TechSmith has announced the public beta of Snagit for Mac so users can turn simple screenshots into powerful visual communication tools. Individuals who want to take part in the public beta can download Snagit for Mac by visiting http://techsmith.com/snagitmac.

“When we released Camtasia for Mac earlier this year, we were reminded once again just how much the Mac community also wants to see Snagit on the platform,” said Tiffany Wood, Snagit product manager at TechSmith. “Starting today, the public beta of Snagit for Mac is available. We’re excited to receive feedback so we can deliver a final release that meets the Mac community’s expectations and get feature suggestions that matter most to them for future releases.”

Snagit enables computer users to take screenshots of exactly what they see on their computer screens to communicate ideas faster, explain concepts clearly, and archive electronic information with point-and-click convenience. Using Snagit for Mac users can make their business presentations, classroom materials, customer support and other digital documentation look professional without having to use complex image editing software.

Existing features and functionality in the Snagit for Mac beta include
:

  • Capture: Capturing a screenshot has never been easier than with Snagit for Mac beta, which includes the flexibility to capture the desktop, a window, a scrolling window (vertically and horizontally), or region with one click of a button or a hot key. Snagit for Mac also includes the flexibility to capture a single window when multiple windows are open simultaneously, to capture menus, and to set a delay on a capture.
  • Edit: Snagit for Mac beta enables users to preview their capture, add callouts, arrows, lines, as well as the ability to blur, highlight or erase. The style gallery offers presets for the annotation tools, or users can always customize their styles so their favorite callouts are front and center. Users will be able to manage recent captures in the image tray as well as drag multiple images from the tray to the canvas to combine them. All screen captures are automatically saved so grabbing multiple images, and working on them later, is efficient and organized.
  • Share: With the Snagit for Mac beta, users will be able to email a capture, copy/paste it, or drag it into other applications. For example, a user can capture a screenshot of a Website, edit it with callouts to draw attention to a specific focal point, and drag it into their PowerPoint slide to share in a presentation.

Snagit for Mac beta users will be able to give TechSmith their feedback on the new application as it evolves at https://www.getsatisfaction.com/snagit_mac_beta Beta users will be automatically notified from within the software when newer versions become available. TechSmith plans to update the beta based on ongoing customer feedback every 30 to 60 days.

“Building a Mac version has been our number one feature request for Snagit for a while,” said Wood. “Now, we want to know from the Mac user community what Snagit for Mac is to them. This beta allows us to engage with the people who are going to use this product and create the right solution for them.”
