DC Comics had an impressive showing in December 2015, but the success of books like The Dark Knight III: The Master Race and Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles wasn’t quite enough to overcome Marvel’s Secret Wars. Secret Wars #8 was the best-selling comic of December (according to Diamond Comics’ sales figures) with an estimated 169,667 copies sold.
The Batman franchise as a whole performed well for DC, with The Dark Knight III: The Master Race #2, Batman/TMNT #1, Batman #47 and Harley’s Little Black Book #1 all placing in the top ten. Both Star Wars #13 and Darth Vader #14 also appeared, and Guardians of Infinity #1 proved to be the best-selling of Marvel’s various All-New, All-Different Marvel debuts.

As usual, a Brian K. Vaughan-penned comic was the best-selling graphic novel of the month. It wasn’t Saga that won the day, though, but the hardcover edition of Vaughan and Marcos Martin’s The Private Eye, which sold an estimated 7.845 copies. It was followed by the paperback version of Harley Quinn Vol. 2 and the latest volume of Dark Horse’s Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novels.
