In honor of Halloween, this week we filled up the candy bowl for the upcoming tricksters and treated ourselves to playtime with some Halloween versions of our favorite games.   One of which is Scene It? Horror.   This app arrived just in time, with scary movie trivia for Halloween! Screenlife, creators of Scene It? have launched the app for the iPhone and iPod Touch, with enhanced HD version for the iPad.

Scene It? Horror app features fun with trivia, clips, and puzzles pulled from the scariest classic and current horror movies of all time, including Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Paranormal Activity, The Exorcist, Shutter Island and Psycho. Scene It? Horror is a fun game experience for fans of the paranormal or people who love movies and trivia.

Game Features

  • Multiplayer mode which can utilize Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to connect up to 4 iOS devices (iPhone, iPod touch or iPad)
  • A fiendish fast-paced single-player mode that boasts 30 distinct games and 15 puzzle types
  • Scream Machine – Scare your friends and sample a variety of bone-chilling screams with this bonus sound board
  • Facebook Connect -“ Challenge friends, post scores and translate game points into Scene It? Facebook Glitz
  • Death Match -“ Tabletop huddle mode that will determine who’s the biggest horror fan in the room (iPad)

We had a great time playing the game in both individual and the Death Match mode.   The puzzles and questions are challenging if you have a good knowledge of horror films, but not so tough that they get frustrating, which is what we found with previous versions of Scene It? games.   At the end of many of the questions, you get an link to purchase the film on which the questions was base, so you can refresh your scary memories a bit.

More Content Available

The Scene It? Horror App allows fans to extend the scares by offering content packs as an In App Purchase, featuring questions, clips and puzzlers focused on their favorite horror film genres. The first pack features all things “Undead” and will be available for purchase in time for Halloween.

Verdict

We really enjoyed the game and it is a steal at a $1.99 for the iPhone version and $3.99 for the HD iPad version.

Pros

  • Trivia is hard but not so hard that it requires lost of expert knowledge
  • Good variety of puzzles
  • Fun as both a single and multi-player game

Cons

  • Clips that are too scary on the big screen are still too scary on the little screen (ha! ha!)

Rating 4.5
