Samsung Mobile Display released two videos showcasing its long-term plans for OLED displays. They clearly show off devices that appear to be nothing more than a see-through sheet of plastic that’s flexible and has the ability to display images in 3D as well as 2D. The tablet-like tiny PCs are unlike any other product currently in existence, although they remain just concepts for now.
Such devices aren’t likely to get into consumer hands for between another five to ten years. The company showed off a foldable AMOLED display back in May that could fold exactly in half and show no ill effects.
The new technology could be applied to ever-smaller electronics and ones that are wearable as well.
