Samsung will make separate announcements in each market as the update becomes available from its carrier partners around the world.

Samsung didn’t call out any specific new features for the GS6, but mentioned the GS6 Edge will gain new edge screen features, available on the curved glass of the phone’s edge. For example, users can widen the edge screen content from 260 pixels to 550 pixels in order to see more detail. The wider edge panel also revises the UI so info is easier to consume when holding the phone vertically.

The People Edge tool gains some usability tweaks, too. It now includes names for each of the five contacts, as well as a link to the system settings. Last, the edge screen sees a more advanced App Edge tool, which displays 10 app shortcuts instead of 5.

Samsung will push Marshmallow to more devices, such as the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Note 5, in the months to come.
