Rare, Lionhead and Turn 10 Working on Games for the Next Xbox

A few Microsoft-owned game developers are already working on titles for the next-generation Xbox gaming console, writes CVG, citing Xbox World magazine. They include Rare, Lionhead and Turn 10, with Rare rumored to be throwing ideas around for a new mature game. Another source has Lionhead working on Fable 4, which is due for release in 2013.

Microsoft is believed to have a ten-year plan for its Xbox 360, which itself launched in 2005. Like Sony did with its PS2 console, however, it’s possible there will be an overlap of sales, with the Xbox 360 continuing to be offered alongside the new console for a set period. European Xbox boss Chris Lewis hinted at just such a possibility.

The new console has been tied to a reveal at the E3 gaming show in June of 2012. Rumors suggest it may be the first Xbox to be backwards-compatible. Microsoft dropped the original Xbox very quickly in 2005 as the switch from Intel to Power chips prevented it from running the older games.
