AMD’s Radeon HD 6000 series should finally get a launch at the end of next week based on a report from VR-Zone. At best, the new cards will only be slightly faster than an overclocked Radeon HD 5850, but both are conceived as mid-range cards and should consume significantly less power.
Boards based on the new AMD chipsets are believed to already be shipping from their associated manufacturers and would be ready to sell by the 22nd, indicating that AMD plans a “hard launch” where its hardware is available the same day as it’s unveiled. Future plans haven’t yet crystallized, though the 6900 is likely next followed by mobile versions.
