HP has announced that it has finally brought document editing to the TouchPad via a software update for Quickoffice. The latest version now enables users to create and edit Word and Excel documents, while also bringing performance and multitasking improvements. New capabilities include formatting options for font type, color, size, underlining and italics in Word, along with formatting cells and using functions in Excel.
Although the device launched with Quickoffice Connect Mobile Suite, capable of editing PowerPoint presentations, users were limited to viewing Excel and Word documents. HP was said to have shipped the device without the promised editing capabilities to help keep the project on schedule after a long delay following the initial unveiling.
