Qnap Debuts TS-x70 Turbo NAS Units with Multimedia Streaming

TS-670 ProQNAP Systems has announced the release of the TS-x70 Pro series Turbo NAS, available in four-, six- and eight-bay tower models aimed at home and small office use. Powered by a dual-core Intel Core i3 3.3GHz processor and 2GB DDR3 RAM, the TS-x70 Pro series delivers real-time multimedia transcoding capabilities, and is designed to connect home digital assets as a multimedia hub.

The TS-x70 Pro series can deliver up to 447MB per second read and 446MB per second write speeds with an optional four-gigabit LAN port configuration. By connecting a TS-x70 Pro series model to an HDTV via HDMI, users can view multimedia contents with 5.1 channel surround sound supported by the XBMC media player provided in the QNAP HD Station. The TS-x70 Pro series delivers not only high-speed transcoding capabilities, but also multi-channel audio to provide a home theater experience.

By using the Photo Station, Music Station and Video Station, users can easily archive, manage and share all of their photo, music and video collections. Users can also watch and record digital TV by inserting an optional compatible USB TV tuner to the TS-x70 Pro, and then logging into the Digital TV station’s web interface.

The TS-x70 Pro series is also a backup center to store important files and media contents. Windows and Mac users can use the QNAP NetBak Replicator and Apple Time Machine (respectively) to easily back up data.

All models boast a pair of Gigabit Ethernet ports, are 10GbE-ready, support SATA-3 hot-swappable hard drives, have a pair of USB 3.0 ports, and a single HDMI port. The TS-470 pro is a four-drive unit that sells for $1,119, the TS-670 is a six-drive unit and retails for $1,287, and the TS-870 holds eight drives and sells for $1,455.
