PS Vita Firmware v.3.02 Goes Live

Sony has officially released the latest firmware for its front running portable console, the PlayStation Vita.

The official statement came straight from PlayStation’s Twitter, saying:

PS Vita 3.01 system software update coming soon, includes improvements to system software stability.

Earlier today, the PlayStation Network underwent an extended maintenance that took a majority of the afternoon, which, apart from the occasional hiccup, most services were still intact while players were using Sony’s network. The maintenance also included added support for more portable devices, which means that more PlayStatation Portables and PS Vitas can now be linked to one PSN account.

Updates like this are fairly common on Sony’s consoles, but considering that the previously mentioned extended maintenance included support for more devices like the PS Vita, it’s possible that the stability improvement plays some part in the work Sony did with the servers this afternoon.
