While a Resident Evil 2 remake was announced at the PlayStation E3 2018 event, it was unclear if the game was a PlayStation 4 exclusive or coming to other platforms. Capcom and the Resident Evil 2 recently confirmed that the game is indeed coming to Xbox One on January 25, 2019 with Xbox One X enhancements in tow. The Xbox Store lists Resident Evil 2 as a “4K Ultra HD” title. However, in an interview with GamingBolt, Capcom Brand Manager Mike Lunn said players will be able to toggle a 60 FPS option.

The game went up for preorder on Amazon right after E3 2018, but there was no indication when the digital version would be purchasable on the Xbox Store. Luckily, that changed today as you can now preorder Resident Evil 2 for $59.99. There’s also a “Deluxe Edition” for $69.99 which comes with other weapons and costumes. If you loved the iconic game back then, be sure to give this updated version a go next year.

Resident Evil 2 originally launched in 1998 and is considered a cult classic. The title features tense exploration and puzzle-solving gameplay that are staples in the series even to this day. For those unfamiliar with the story, players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City. The illness transforms the population into deadly zombies who just want to kill. Both Leon and Claire have their own playable campaigns, allowing gamers to see the story from a different point of view.
