Postbox has launched version 2.5 of their self-titled alternative e-mail client for Mac and Windows, bringing full 64-bit support for OS X (the Windows version is still 32-bit for now), a new double-row vertical thread pane view option, a streamlined message view and a new Mac theme featuring a new icon set by Panic’s Kenichi Yoshida. The new version also includes improvements across the entire interface, expanded options and more.
Conversations and messages load faster and navigate more smoothly, the vertical and message views have been improved, Yahoo IMAP support has been added, font controls and the compose window have been enhanced, and v2.5 sports better unread indicators in the folder and focus panes.
The program now also plays a sound on send, adds support for redirecting messages and now features a “remove text formatting” button to the HTML format bar in compose mode. The status bar for notifications has been replaced with a pop-up panel, and the update even addresses an issue with Twitter authentication.

The software is now priced at $20 — it was formerly $40 — and a 30-day free trial is available. The update is free for existing Postbox 2.x users.
