Pioneer has taken the covers off to new additions to its Elite range of AV receivers. Both the Elite VSX-42 and the Elite VSX-60 sport AirPlay support for lossless iTunes and iOS streaming, as well as support for DLNA (1.5) and Bluetooth audio streaming with an optional Bluetooth adapter. They also come with vTuner Internet radio, which is extended in the VSX-60 to include support for Pandora and Sirius XM.

The VSX-42 uses an Anchor Bay video processor, while the VSX-60 incorporates Marvell’s Qdeo technology, offering high quality video processing for maximum performance and flexibility. Qdeo is said to capture , process and render a wider variety of video signals ranging from Blu-ray discs to portable video sources such as smartphones.

The VSX-60 also offers Pioneers Stream Smoother processing that reduces compression noise in order to reproduce a cleaner image. It is supposed to be of particular help when reproducing video files originally compressed for use on mobile devices. Both the VSX-42 and the VSX-60 also incorporate 192kHz/24-Bit DACs and MCACC room calibration. To this, the VSX-60 adds Advanced MCACC, Phase Control Plus, PQLS Bit Stream and Virtual Depth.

The VSX-42 retails for $450 while the VSX-60 costs $650.
