Parallels has released a minor update of Desktop 7 for Mac, its flagship virtualization software. The patch introduces “experimental” support for the final beta of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, a Linux variant due to be launched on April 26th. Another new Linux-related feature is the ability to download and install Fedora 16 without leaving the Parallels Wizard.

Some other changes include better 3D support, and expanded keyboard compatibility. The latter incorporates fresh support for Arabic, Dvorak, and French numeric keyboard layouts, as well as improved Swedish keyboard support. Desktop 7 costs $80 new, or $50 as upgrade from v5 or later. Macs must be running an Intel Mac with at least OS X 10.5.8, 2GB of RAM, and 15GB of hard drive space per virtual machine.
