Google has updated its distribution totals of the various Android OS version to show that 73.8 percent are using some version of Android 2.x. It shows that the largest portion (40.4 percent) use Android 2.1, while the second most used build of the OS is Android 2.2, at 33.4 percent. There are still 16.4 percent of Android 1.6 users accessing the Market, and 9.7 percent have Android 1.5.
Google has faced Android fragmentation as a problem and has been working to have more devices on similar version.
