No Doubt New LP Will Be Released in 2012

No Doubt have announced on their website that they’re pushing back the release of their upcoming album until next year.

“Ideally our new record would be coming out this year but it’s just not ready yet. We don’t want to rush this album just to get it out,” reads the post. “This collection of songs means everything to us and our only priority right now is to make sure that it’s the best album we can possibly make. There is still more work for us to do”

The group started recording the album early this year, announcing on Twitter in January that they were hard at work with “10 new songs written.”

No Doubt has had an eventful year and a half since reuniting for a summer tour in 2009. Since then, the four-piece has performed for Paul McCartney and President Obama at the Kennedy Center Honors and seen the births of “three beautiful new No Doubt babies” to members Adrian Young, Tony Kanal, and Tom Dumont.

The upcoming album will be the band’s first record in over 10 years, following 2001’s “Rock Steady,” and bassist Kanal has said that the group will “absolutely” tour again behind the new album.
