Today is May 4, AKA Star Wars Day. Many people try to use the day as a way to get the fans to come buy their products. Star Wars fans sometimes use the day to remind Trekkies that they don’t have a day!
So HMD Global is bring back Nokia, as Nokia Mobile this year. Once the indisputable king of cell phone is about to launch a trio of Android-based handsets: Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3.
To get demand going, Nokia Mobile is using Star Wars Day as a reminder that its new phones are almost ready to be released around the world. I the video below, Nokia is celebrating the 4th of May by readying its handsets, which are “coming to your galaxy very soon.”
Now we don’t what the fine folks at Verizon here in the US think of this ad campaign. They have licensed the term Droid (Star Wars robots, if you have be living under a rock since 1977) from Lucasfilm for years to use on Android phones. Lucasfilm, or should we now say Disney, has a trademark on the term.
All four new Nokia handsets – 3 smartphones, plus 1 feature phone should be launched around the gobal by the end of June.
