NEC on Tuesday introduced a new netbook, which they displayed at at CES this year, unique in that it runs on Android 2.2. The 7-inch touchscreen in the LifeTouch Note has an 800×480 resolution, and there is also a GPS sensor, an accelerometer and NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 CPU onboard. There is also an SDHC memory card slot and a two-megapixel camera.
Three models will be available, including the range-topper with Wi-Fi, 3G and 8GB of built-in storage, a Wi-Fi only version and a Wi-Fi only version with 4GB of memory.
The device will be compatible with the Android Market and the netbook will have a one-click picture-adding feature to any SNS service, mail, text or photo integration service. Battery life is said to be nine hours.
The netbooks will arrive in Japan in March, in chocolate brown, piano black or red. The 4GB, Wi-Fi model will cost the equivalent of $477, while both the 8GB Wi-Fi and 3G models are said to retail for the same $537
