NCISCBS has ordered an 11th season of NCIS, which marks a new milestone for a television series that has marked plenty of them over more than a decade, CBS has ordered an 11th season of NCIS. In a statement, CBS chief Les Moonves said, “In a world gone niche, NCIS keeps getting bigger and Mark Harmon continues to define the role of leading man on the No. 1 show on television.”

Ironically, before the series began, Harmon — whose father, Tom Harmon, was a legendary football star who went on to become a top sports broadcaster and whose mother, Elyse Knox, was a movie star in the 1940s — went out of his way to keep himself grounded by working occasionally on construction jobs, even while starring in films and TV dramas. (“Wouldn’t you be a bit surprised if a movie star showed up to remodel your house?” he was once asked. “Not if he did good work,” he replied.) Harmon is not only the star of NCIS but also its executive producer.

In his statement, Moonves went on to remark, “NCIS is the type of franchise every company wants in today’s global content ecosystem — high-quality storytelling that generates passionate viewers and drives revenue on every conceivable platform.”
