Mushkin has announced a new series of SSDs, the Scorpion Deluxe series. This series of SSDs, though, is no ordinary lineup, as the units are PCIe– based; thus, they also have much higher read and write speeds.

The units are driven by a total of four Sandforce SF-2281 controllers and have native support for Windows 8, so no drivers are required to get it running. The internal SSDs have a modular design and can be upgraded or replaced easily. The RAID configuration of the internal SSDs can be user-adjusted.

With the PCIe x8 interface the fastest and largest unit at 1920 GB, it features read speeds of up to 2165 MB/s and write speeds of up to 1990 MB/s. The units also feature up to 89,000 random read IOPS, as well as up to 107,000 write IOPS.

Mushkin’s Scorpion Deluxe PCIe SSDs all have an MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) of 1,000,000 hours, they possess operating temperatures between 0 and 70° C, and will also feature a three-year warranty.

There was no word on when the SSDs would be available, nor pricing.
