Microsoft Asks EU to Approve Its Nokia Acquisition

Microsoft has requested that European antitrust regulators approve its proposed acquisition of Finland’s Nokia.

Microsoft announced its intent to purchase Nokia’s handset business for $7.5 billion last month. The European Commission said that it will device no later than December 4 on whether or not it will approve the deal. The deal needs to be approved by U.S. regulators, as well.

Nokia is the world’s largest purveyor of Windows Phones, Microsoft’s smartphone operating system.
