An iOS version of the Windows Azure toolkit is now available for developers, according to the official Microsoft blog. The download simplifies coding for Microsoft’s cloud-based OS platform. Included with the iOS toolkit are compiled code libraries, a sample app, documentation, and an Azure deployment package.

Microsoft says it will also be updating the Windows Phone edition of the toolkit to v1.2 within the next two weeks. The upgrade will include Azure Access Control Service integration — in the form of things like automatic setup and code — and full support for Azure Storage Queues. The toolkit’s matching web app should get an improved interface.

An Android version of the software should be ready later this summer. Microsoft has been gradually extending its reach into third-party mobile platforms. Late last week the company published a Bing Maps Control for iOS, helping developers who want to use Bing map content in their apps.
