Marvel Universe Will Lose a Captain American Book This Summer

The Marvel Universe recently went from two Captain Americas to zero very quickly, and that change will now be felt Marvel’s release schedule as well.

In the most recent Marvel solicitations, one popped up for Captain America #25. It was almost east to miss amongst all the Secret Empire related issues, but this one does signify a big change for the character. There will now be just one Captain America book, as opposed to a Captain America: Sam Wilson and Captain America: Steve Rogers.

Wilson recently dropped the Captain America moniker and shield before the events of Secret Empire, but it appears there are still some issues to work out regarding the mantle according to the description of Captain America #25.

Wilson now finds himself as part of the special team heading to the Savage Land for an advantage in the conflict. It will require them to get Sauron’s help mind you, so not an easy proposition, but no less important. It will also feature Wilson, who didn’t originally want to come along for the ride, coming to grips with who his best friend really is these days. There’s a part of Sam who still can’t believe it’s really Steve, and that will play a big part in Secret Empire: Underground.

A vital chapter to the heroes of the Marvel Universe confronting Steve Rogers and the oncoming hordes of Hydra in the Secret Empire saga, SECRET EMPIRE: UNDERGROUND also enlists Hercules, Ant-Man, Iron Man, and Quicksilver for a covert mission that strikes at the very foundation of Hydra’s grasp around the world. Can Mockingbird and her team find the cracks in Hydra’s hold to bring it all crumbling down? Or will their plan cause Hydra to grow back even stronger than before? Be here this June as the resistance fights back SECRET EMPIRE: UNDERGROUND from Jeremy Whitley, Eric Koda, and Marvel Comics.
