Macworld Conference & Expo, in collaboration with the Berklee College of Music, has announced the “Macworld Music Studio” at Macworld, an expanded show floor attraction with instruction, demonstrations, performances and training on how to use the Mac to bring musical visions to life. Macworld Conference & Expo is scheduled to take place January 5-9, 2009, at San Francisco’s Moscone Center.

“The Mac has become the preferred tool for musicians, songwriters, and music educators,” said Paul Kent, vice president and general manager, Macworld Conference & Expo. “The Macworld Music Studio will provide music lovers with an educational environment where they can learn about making music on a Mac.”

Sponsored by Shure, the Macworld Music Studio will feature performances and demonstrations led by Berklee College of Music faculty, professional musicians, studio engineers and other music experts, including highly acclaimed Macworld Magazine columnist and renowned industry personality Jim Dalrymple who will lead a session entitled, “You, Your Mac, A Guitar and Apple’s Mainstage.”

The Macworld Music Studio will present three special performances by self taught guitarist John Denner, who was born without his right hand, and Little Kids Rock, a non-profit organization that restores music into the academic lives of kids in public schools through educational programs, instruction, free instruments and trained mentors. Together, they will demonstrate how Mac hardware and software are used to record and produce music in the studio. Denner and Little Kids Rock will perform and record a song live on the show floor during a unique jam session.

Additional sessions at the Macworld Music Studio include:

  • Making Music With The Mac -“ Putting It To Work!
  • Mac For The Guitarist
  • Creating and Adding Drumbeats and Grooves With Your Mac
  • The Mac DJ
  • Plug Ins and Software Instruments
