Skype has now released the full-blown version of its latest software, Skype 5.2, for Macs. Like the beta version, it allows for group video calls but also now allows sharing of the screen during group calls. At the same time, group video call members can share documents, photos and other files. This feature does require the paid Skype Premium subscription, however.

Also new is the ability to multitask while in video calls thanks to a new call control bar, letting users see the person they’re talking with or hang up or mute the conversation even from a different program.

The latest software also compiles the most common conversations under a Recents tab in the sidebar while a history section keeps track of the less common ones.

Those who need more features than the free software provides may want to opt for a subscription, which costs between $4.49 and $8.99 per month. A day pass is available for $4.99 as well.
