Lenovo T420s and W520 Laptops Are Now Shipping

Lenovo is now Shipping the new Intel Sandy Bridge equipped Thinkpad T420s and W520. In standard trim, the slim and light T420s ships with a second-generation Core i5 processor running at 2.5GHz with 3MB L3 cache and paired with 2GB of DDR3 RAM clocked at 1333MHz. Its 14-inch high-resolution 1600×900 display is LED backlit and antiglare. It includes a 250GB spinning hard drive that comes pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64. Graphics is the standard Intel integrated HD 3000.

The standard entry-level version of the more expensive Thinkpad W520 Mobile Workstation comes equipped with a Core i7 processor running at 2.70GHz with 4MB of L3 cache and is paired with 4GB of DDR3 RAM clocked at 1333MHz. The processor also includes Intel’s Turbo Boost mode for dynamically boosting performance up to 3.4GHz. In addition to Intel’s HD 3000 integrated graphics, it is also fitted with NVIDIA Quadro graphics with 2GB of dedicated VRAM. Its high-resolution 1366×768 15.6-inch display is also backlit and antiglare. The standard spinning hard drive is a 320GB model good for 7,200 rpm.

All of the T- and W-series Thinkpads include NVIDIA’s Optimus graphics switching technology where integrated and discrete graphics are incorporated for prolonging battery life and optimizing performance as required. All models can also be customized at additional cost.

The Lenovo Thinkpad T420s starts from $1199 while the Thinkpad W520 starts from $1449. Both will ship within 9 days.
