Kingston has just introduced its latest SSD range, the Hyper X 3K, meant to appeal to budget buyers who still want some performance. The 2.5-inch drives uses MLC NAND flash. The largest capacity, 480GB versions are slightly slower, at 540MBps in sequential read speeds and 450MBps in write speeds.

The drives are available as standalone offerings and as part of an upgrade kit that includes cables, a software CD, and more. Prices for the 90GB, 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB models are $140, $170, $320, and $700, respectively, with the bundle option adding $10 to each.
