Kindle Singles to Encourage Self-Publishing

Amazon today announced the development of a newer format for e-books. Kindle Singles would occupy the space between articles and full books with about 30 to 90 pages’ (10,000 to 30,000 words) worth of material. The novella sized material would be target at editorials, essays, studies and other content that needs enough depth to sit in between magazine story and a small book.

The company is encouraging self-publishing and hopes to put Singles in their own separate section of the Kindle Store at prices “much less” than books. Titles will be readable on every platform that Amazon already supports.

To be considered for Kindle Singles, interested parties should contact digital-publications@amazon.com.
