The cast of director Marc Webb‘s The Only Living Boy in New York is expanding as The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Underworld franchise star Kate Beckinsale has signed on for a leading role. She joins a lineup that also includes Callum Turner (Green Room, Victor Frankenstein), Kiersey Clemons (Transparent, Dope) and Jeff Bridges (Hell or High Water, The Little Prince).

Scripted by Allan Loeb, The Only Living Boy in New York, follows a boy (Turner) who, after learning that his father is having an affair, winds up becoming romantically involved with the woman in question. Beckinsale will play the woman with Bridges in the father role.

Beckinsale starred earlier this year in Whit Stillman’s Love & Friendship and can be seen in theaters now headlining D.J. Caruso’s The Disappointments Room. Early next year, she’ll reprise her Selene role for Screen Gems’ Underworld: Blood Wars. Anna Foerster is directing the franchise entry, set to hit theaters January 6.

Although there’s no specific word on how the title relates to the plot, The Only Living Boy in New York is a reference to a 1970 Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel track of their last studio album together, “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

The Only Living Boy in New York marks the first feature film from Marc Webb since helming both chapters in Sony PicturesThe Amazing Spider-Man series.

Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa are producing The Only Living Boy in New York, which is set up at Amazon Studios. Plans call for the project to begin shooting next month.
