J.K. Rowling Tweets About Fantastic Beasts

fantasticbeastsAuthor J.K. Rowling has fans puzzled and perplexed at a series of cryptic Twitter messages she made yesterday that could hint at a possible new chapter in the literary (and cinematic) adventures of one Mr. Harry Potter… or perhaps not.

The Tweets as follows lead to a not-so-surprising revelation:

Oct 5- Very busy at the moment working on a novel, tweaking a screenplay and being involved in @lumos campaigns. Back when I’ve finished something!

See, now I’m tempted to post a riddle or an anagram. Must resist temptation… must work…

Oct 6- Cry, for! Run amok! Fa awry! My wand won’t tolerate this nonsense.

Something to ponder while I’m away X

Oct 7- “Newt Scamander’s History of New York Fauna: One town, my tale” Warmer.

The solution is the first sentence of a synopsis of Newt’s story. It isn’t part of the script, but sets the scene.

And there we have it, after over 6000 retweets it turns out Rowling’s clever wordplay is merely a basic jump start to her writing process in crafting the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. There is still the matter of that other “novel” she’s working on, but for all we know that could just be another Cormoran Strike book… or not. Only time will tell…

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the first in a planned trilogy based on Rowling’s 2001 “textbook” for Harry Potter, which follows the adventures of the book’s fictitious author Newt Scamander in New York and beyond, 70 years before the events of the Harry Potter books.

Directed by David Yates from a screenplay by Rowling, the movie will be released by Warner Bros. on November 18, 2016.
