Titled ‘The Lines Are Redrawn’, the Injustice 2 story trailer released today sets up the sequel, while also offering glimpses of new characters, including Robin, Bane, and Poison Ivy. At the end, Darkseid is confirmed as a pre-order bonus character.
So far, the confirmed characters listed on the Injustice website include Batman, Blue Beetle, The Flash, Harley Quinn, Superman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd, Aquaman, and Atrocitus. 20 more characters are still to be revealed on the site, and one will be announced next week on January 24. As the special edition contents show, Green Lantern is in Injustice 2. Cinematic Director Dominic Ciancolo explained that Injustice 2 takes place right after Injustice: Gods Among Us (spoilers for Injustice below):
Injustice 2 picks up where Injustice: Gods Among Us left off. Though Batman has won the battle with Superman, he’s still facing threats on all sides. Former members of Superman’s regime continue to elude justice. And a shadowy new group, The Society, threatens chaos across the globe.
With many of his allies either victims of, or collaborators with, Superman’s failed regime, Batman faces this dangerous world short of help. That’s why he’s brought together a new squad of Super Heroes. When Earth is invaded and threatened with destruction, Batman and his new team are thrust into action!
NetherRealm wanted to keep the game’s core conflict of Batman versus Superman, but they didn’t want to repeat themselves. So, with Injustice 2, they’ve introduced Brainiac, who “possesses superior intelligence, impossibly advanced technology, and inexhaustible resources,” and forces Batman to question everthing he knows.
