HP in revamp of their consumer monitor lineup, is now offering five new LED backlit models in their x-Series. The new monitors increase energy efficiency by up to 43 percent, offer 250 nits of brightness and a 3,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio at sizes ranging from 20 to 27 inches (diagonally measured) yet only about one inch thick.
All models in the series feature fast five-millisecond (5ms) response time, due to their use of twisted nematic (TN) technology which is considered good for gaming and typical consumer use, but only average for color fidelity and viewing angles. All monitors in the series also rate Energy STAR 5.0 and EPEAT Silver specifications for power consumption, averaging a 33 percent savings over similar but LCD-based monitors.
The 2011x 20-inch model ($160) offers a 1600×900 resolution anti-glare panel, while the 2211x ($200) ups the resolution to a full HD 1920x1080p. Both models have VGA and DVI-D connectors (with HDCP) and cables included. The 23-inch 2311x ($230) has the same specs as the 2211x but adds an HDMI input
The other two models — the 25-inch 2511x ($300), and 27-inch 2711x ($400) — both feature the same 1920×1080 resolution as the smaller two models, but use a BrightView (glossy) option and raise the brightness to 300 nits.
The smaller monitors will be available from this Sunday, December 12th, with the larger two monitors hitting stores the following week (Dec. 19th). An optional external speaker option is available.
