Nintendo had a great press last week at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles. The Big N launched the downloadable game service for the Nintendo 3DS console. Several games became available, including Excitebike Classic and Super Mario Land, but perhaps one of the most intriguing additions was a downloadable trailer for the Green Lantern movie, which opens Friday.
In the introduction of media services for the 3DS shop, the Green Lantern trailer displayed in full 3D, giving owners of the handheld system a taste of what kind of visual effects the film will have. The effects look very good on the tiny 3DS screen when we watched the trailer.
The trailer is available to download now and is free of charge. This is just the beginning of several movie-based services to come on the 3DS, including Netflix (with full 3D support) and other downloadable media. Let’s hope we see more 3-D trailers to come.
Directed by Martin Campbell, Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Temuera Morrison, Tim Robbins, Taika Waititi and Angela Bassett.
