Google has once again decided to delay its plans to cease supporting Google Sync for Windows Phone.
The new cut-off date is now December 31, extended five months from July 31. Windows Phone users rely on Google’s Sync support to get their calendar and contact data pushed to their Windows Phones. Google said that new and existing Windows Phone devices can continue to set up their accounts using Google Sync.
Microsoft is working to add CalDAV and CardDAV support, Google’s preferred method for syncing, to Windows Phone 8. The support for these protocols is already being pushed out in the form of a minor system update, known as GDR2, though it has not yet reached most WP8 devices.
