Google has provided an update to the Gmail application for devices running its Android platform.
For devices running Android 4.1 and up, the new app lets device owners reply to, delete, or archive messages from the notification pane, with no need to open the full Gmail app. Devices running Android 4.0 and up gain the ability to perform searches faster, even when offline.
Devices running Android 2.2 and up should notice performance improvements to Gmail. Google says these new features, when combined with existing features, will allow Android device owners to automate and customize notifications and responses.
Gmail is a free download from the Google Play Store.
