Nexus 5XGoogle’s Nexus handsets will be among the first Android devices to support a wide range of new emoji, according to Hiroshi Lockheimer, Google’s SVP of Android and Chrome OS.

Lockheimer said a system update, expected next week, will also bring a new keyboard, new font, and new code. Google will supply the system image to phone makers, who will have to decide whether or not to include it with their own devices.

Some of the sample emoji revealed by Lockheimer include a unicorn, lion, and crab, suggesting Android is adopting Unicode 8.0. iOS 9 added Unicode 8.0 earlier this year.
