Google subsidiary Motorola has internally announced about 1,200 layoffs, 10% of its current workforce. The cuts follow layoffs of 4,000 last year.

The cuts will be in the U.S., China, and India. According to an internal email obtained by the Wall Street Journal, company executies reasoned that “our costs are too high, we’re operating in markets where we’re not competitive, and we’re losing money.” After pumping out around 20 phones each year in the U.S. for most of the last decade, the company announced just ten in 2012.
