Today Google has updated the public (stable) version of Chrome for Windows with features previously only available in a December beta. Mac users have be told to “hang tight” for a comparable version for OSX.

The Chrome 4 upgrade primarily brings extensions and gives users features such as Gmail checking, web clips or extensions.   Bookmark sync is also present and lets those with Google accounts push new bookmarks to more than one computer.

Speed is the other major gain.   The new version compared to the last stable release is estimated to be about 42 percent quicker in benchmarks.
