Funny or Die’s, Felicia Day’s Twitch Charity Live Stream Raises Over $250K To Aid Separated Border Families

On Saturday, Felicia Day hosted a 12-hour charity Twitch stream in collaboration with Funny or Die and Latinx lifestyle network Mitú to raise money for the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES). The stream raised over $250,000 for the Texas-based nonprofit, which provides free and affordable legal services to immigrants and refugees in the state, and is currently working to reunite immigrant children who have been separated from their parents at the United States border.

The stream, titled #KeepFamiliesTogether, started at 9 am PST Saturday and ended at 9 pm PST, the same day that Keep Families Together marches protesting the separation of children from their parents at the U.S. border took place all over the country.

Day, a creator who founded the media brand Geek & Sundry, hosted the stream with celebrity guests like actors Seth GreenNathan Fillion, and Alan Tudyk, along with cast members of the network TV show Supernatural — Ruth ConnellRob Benedict, and Samantha Smith. Other guests included Jessica Chobot from NerdistKate Micucci from Garfunkel & Oates, and CollegeHumor’s Siobhan Thompson. During the live stream, participants played video games and pledged to match donations from celebrities who did not attend, including Clark Gregg (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Rocsi Diaz(Entertainment Tonight), and Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory).

After the live stream ended, Day tweeted that it had raised $212,368.95 for RAICES.
