Napster has announced that beginning later this month, Dell will ship select systems in the U.S., U.K. and Germany with instant access to a free year (retail value: $60) of Napster, including 60 MP3s of the consumer’s choice plus 12 months of unlimited on-demand music listening from a catalog of more than eight million songs making it easier for people who like listening to music on their laptop or desktop computers.
“People want the ability to personalize their PCs, and music is a great way for them to do that,” said Rachna Bhasin, GM Strategic Partnerships, Dell consumer. “Dell is now making it easier than ever for customers to enjoy their favorite music by downloading MP3s of their choice, as well as discover new music with streaming from Napster’s vast music collection.”
Select Dell Studio and Inspiron PC models shipping directly from Dell in the U.S., U.K. and Germany, as well as Dell branded PCs purchased at Best Buy in the U.S., will be sold with a Napster icon on the desktop and “Dell Dock” that enables instant redemption of a one-year Napster subscription.
“Napster is pleased to be working with Dell to deliver a valuable and easy music experience for customers,” said Brad Duea, Napster president. “Whether consumers buy their Dell PC from Best Buy or directly from Dell, they can immediately customize it with their favorite music and enjoy unlimited listening of Napster’s entire catalog for a year.”
Napster offers MP3 downloads and unlimited on-demand music for as low as $5 per month. Plans start with MP3 credits (5, 15, 30 or 60) to download songs from Napster’s library-”more than eight million tracks covering all kinds of music, from all major labels and thousands of independent artists. Unlimited streaming music allows members to listen to individual tracks as often as they like-”or choose from commercial-free radio stations and programmed playlists.
