Foo FightersThe Foo Fighters will release an as-yet untitled HBO series to accompany their eighth album and 20th anniversary. Directed by Foos frontman Dave Grohl, the docu-series follows the band during tours to Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington D.C. and New York where they tap into the “musical heritage and cultural fabric” of each city.

Continuing the tradition set up by Grohl’s 2013 Sundance documentary about Los Angeles recording studio Sound City, this project will show the Foos at “legendary studio integral to the unique history and character of each [city’s] location” while they record one song in each place.

“Dave’s heartfelt passion for this project is contagious, and his talent as a musician and filmmaker is undeniable,” says Michael Lombardo, HBO programming prexy. “We are excited to go on this journey with him and Foo Fighters for this insider’s look at how regional music inspired them to create their own new music.”

The HBO series is produced in conjunction with James A. Rota, John Ramsay and Therapy studios, and is written by Grohl and Mark Monroe. The series will premiere on the eve of Foo Fighters’ 20th anniversary. Their eighth album is due out this fall on Roswell/RCA.
