First Xbox Live UFC Fight Plagued with Problems – Xbox Will Give Free Viewing to Effected Members

Microsoft’s live UFC app for the Xbox that launched in December suffered a number of hiccups when trying to stream UFC 141 on December 30. Microsoft sent out 30,000 promotional passes for Xbox Live members to try out the app, which likely led to the technical issues many suffered with the app not loading. Other issues included resetting, crashing, moving to an earlier point in the fight with no ability to fast forward to live broadcasting, buffering, stuttering and switching between standard, high or very low resolutions.

Xbox’s Major Nelson did a Great job of letting fans know what was up via twitter.  Microsoft has officially responded and promised a free viewing for the next, ideally trouble-free UFC fight broadcast to the 30,000 users. Microsoft only said the technical issues were due to problems in the hours leading up to the fight. The company will keep the gamertags of those who registered to view the fight on file to give them a free viewing.

The app promised to offer 720p HD quality, Kinect gesture playback controls, fighter stats, the ability to create fight cards and more. The fights are offered on a pay-per-view basis, but offer much more interaction than their TV counterparts.
