It was the tennis match to end all matches and now the historic “battle of the sexes” between tennis stars Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs is being developed into a film for HBO, Variety is reporting.
Elizabeth Banks will star as King and Paul Giamatti will play Riggs in the as yet untitled project, with David Auburn (“Proof”) set to write.
Playtone’s Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman will serve as executive producers, along with Brownstone Production’s Banks and Max Handelman.
