The ElfQuest comic series has hit a series of rough patches in its journey to the big screen, but it seems that this time it might be getting there. Variety is reporting that producers Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes have acquired the film rights to the Wendy and Richard Pini comic series. Just a few years ago the film was in development at Warner Bros.

Co-creator Wendy Pini said, “With their deep love and understanding of the property, they represent a new direction for ElfQuest…new creative energy and new connections in the larger media.”

The producing pair made a short film adaptation of the property to pitch their take on the film which you can see below.

The original series was created in 1978 and is described as being about “Cutter, his tribe the Wolfriders, and their quest to find and unite other groups of elves against the threat of humans, trolls, and other assorted nasties.” You can read every issue of ElfQuest on their official website for free.
