For those who need maximum protection for their mobile devices, Grace Digital Audio has launched a $50 air-tight case called the Eco Pod that works with most smartphone-sized mobile devices, protecting them from all the common maladies that can damage electronics, from water to dust, from impact to crushing. The case even comes with fully-waterproof earbuds so that users can continue to listen to music, and has a small storage compartment as well.
The Eco Pod is not designed for users to be able to manipulate the device once it’s locked inside, but instead positioned as rugged protection for those users that want to bring their mobile device into harsh environments with the option of listening to music as well. The case does feature a clear front panel so users can see the screen on their device (for viewing messages, videos or maps as examples), and the case comes with a two-inch carabineer clip for hooking the case to a backpack or tent even in extreme conditions. An accessory Eco Clamp (sold separately) can also mount the Eco Pod case to a bicycle.
The case also features a uniquely designed exterior pressure-release valve to ensure the case is close air-tight but easily openable at high or low altitudes, the company says. The storage compartment should offer enough space for a few credit-card style cards, some cash and a few keys, also protecting them from the elements.
The waterproofing on the case and earphones meets IPX7 standards, meaning the case is waterproof up to 3.3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes. The Eco Pod is now available for order.
