The Motorola Droid X2 Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update that was promised in late July is now live for all users. Users can manually initiate the update by checking for system updates from the phone’s settings menu. The update brings with it a range of enhancements that come in the upgraded OS itself, but also includes hardware-specific bug fixes.
Standard Gingerbread features to arrive with the update include a new Download Manager app, new multi-touch keyboard, improved copy and paste as well as new widgets, icons and colours.
Hardware-specific fixes including bug fixes to reduce screen lockups, duplicate SMS messages, as well as overall stability enhancements, battery percentage indication, screen transitions and new home tray icons.
