mythbustersMythBusters” may have been ended earlier this month, but the franchise will live on — but, with different MythBusters.

The Discovery Communications-owned Science Channel has greenlit “Search for the Next MythBusters,” a reality competition show that will aim to find the next stars to continue the popular series. Original “MythBusters” Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage (pictured) will not featured in the new show, but sources say the duo is supportive of the search to find new stars.

The follow-up series is expected to be announced today at the Discovery Communications upfront in New York City.

“Search for the Next MythBusters” will search for an all-new generation of myth-busting science super stars with mind-blowing build skills and nerves of steel. Using social media and spectacular stunts, the Science Channel series will feature a cast of fearless hopefuls who will be judged on their skills as they compete in never before seen myth-busting challenges.

Beyond Productions, the same team behind the original “MythBusters,” is producing the new reality competition series with Wyatt Channell exec producing for Science Channel.

The continuation of the franchise on Science Channel is a seamless next step. Originally airing on sister network Discovery Channel, the debut “MythBusters” was cancelled after 14 years, airing its final episode earlier this month. The series’ library moved over to Science Channel at the start of 2016, so viewers of the cable net have already been exposed to the show.

“It’s an exciting time for Science Channel as we’re strengthening and energizing the brand with innovative and imaginative programming,” said Marc Etkind, general manager of Science Channel, in a statement on Thursday. “We’re covering live events and science news updates while engaging our audiences with mind-blowing virtual reality experiences, breakthrough in-depth specials, and all new series to answer the biggest questions on air, online and socially.”

No premiere date for the new project has been announced.
