Decide Launces Its Predictive Product Pricing Web Site and Mobile App

Start-up Decide has launched its product advisory service website. Decide advises consumers researching notebooks, cameras, and TVs when a newer model is expected to come out, and when the price is likely to drop. The company has simultaneously launched a mobile app as well as a pricing and product update notification tool.

Decide has amassed a 60-terabyte database, comprised of historical information on products by model line, historical pricing, rumors, and news tidbits from the web. The company then applies machine learning and data mining algorithms to predict when pricing will change or when a newer version will be released. It then reports to a consumer what the price trend has been and suggests whether or not it is a good time to buy, or whether they should wait until the price is expected to drop (with an expected time frame), or how soon a newer model should be hitting the streets.

Decide currently only analyzes three consumer markets. Future products covered will include cellphones and tablets.

The service is free. Subscribers sign up using their Facebook or Twitter account information.
